Autogespot spotted on a test drive

The brand new Aston Martin DB12 is out. And as is custom the press is invited to do some testing. The lucky individuals were invited to come to Monaco. Exactly the reason why Autogespot owner Ruud was found in the brand new DB12 the Mediterranean principality. Although writing an article about driving the car is still under embargo, we are allowed to write about the spot itself!

And of course we do, because the DB12 looks fantastic. According to Aston Martin it is the first 'Super Tourer', a hybrid segment filling the void between supercars and grand tourers. Even though the British brand has not given an exact meaning to what a Super Tourer is we guess it'll mean that the model will be more sporty than the DBS, without losing the comfort of the original DB11. But if you want to know more about that we'd recommend you to wait for the upcoming review.

What we can assume is that the DB12 most likely announces the death of the Aston Martin V12. Because the new top model comes with the AMG 4.0 Liter Twin-Turbo V8, which we know from the V8 Vantage. The same engine yet Aston Martin managed to squeeze a bit more power from the eight cilinder. The DB12 produces up to 680 horsepower, and blasts from 0 to 100 in 3.6 seconds before hurtling to 325 km/h. Which of course are amazing numbers for a GT, or sorry, ST.

The new DB12, perfectly captured by spotter npcarphotography168, is a lot more aggressive than its predecessor, the DB11. Something that was probably done purposely to usher in this new Super Tourer segment. Aside that it is quite funny to see your boss being spotted like this, and I'm certainly looking forward to the review. It will probably give us a bit more information about the car and the new segment Aston Martin is teasing us with. The DB12 is a beautiful car, a true beauty that we can certainly enjoy!
