The current specs of the McLaren P1 can definitely be called impressive. Despite the fact that some news websites are talking about a new version of the McLaren P1, the 'XP2R' is nothing more than a rebuilt version of the XP2, the prototype they tested before the introduction.
So, the XP2R is nothing more than a rebuild of one of the first prototypes. The rebuild is done to build in all production-ready systems again and do some final testing. When this is done, the chance is big that McLaren will send the P1 to the Ring to set a superfast time on the Nordschleife. The only change which is done are the air intakes on the nose. These will be seen on the production model either. The reason this is done is to optimalize the airflow of P1. So this is not a special version, just a rebuild of the prototype to do some final testing!
