Porsche wants to grow, that’s for sure. The grow won’t be reached with the current line of models. The Macan will be added to that, next year. CEO Matthias Müller of Porsche told us they are working on a new sportcar, called the 961.
Porsche wants to take over the market segment of McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia and the successor of the Lamborghini Gallardo. Also, the gap between the forthcoming GT2 RS and 918 Spyder will be filled by this car. There aren’t technical details known, but it probably will share a lot of technique with the 918 Spyder. The expectation is that the car will get a V8 with around 600 bhp, placed in the middle. The car Porsche showed in Paris, the Panamera Sport Turismo will have the same design characteristics as the 961. The price ticket will rise to around 300.000 Euros. In Geneva, more details will be given, but it is already sure that it will come.
