Of all new supercars, the McLaren P1 has the hardest job to convince people of its qualities. The Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder both have an illustrious name, but McLaren is still relatively new. The advantage is the fact that McLaren visits all important motor shows, including this one in Dubai. McLaren brought a beautiful yellow copy to Dubai.
Is there anything new to tell about the P1? Not much, except for the following remarkable news. McLaren said they didn’t set an official time on the Nürburgring with their P1 because they see the Nürburgring as a too dangerous track to drive this fast. They do say they managed to set a time below seven minutes, only they don’t have any evidence to proof it. Quite a strange story. Luckily, we were present when McLaren tried to set a new record and we must say that the car was very fast.
