Goodwood 2013: McLaren P1

Slowly, the McLaren P1 can be seen on the streets more and more. Build to just 375 copies, the McLaren will remain a supercar that will be hard to spot. As Goodwood is here, McLaren decided to show the public their newest supercar in all it's glory, the McLaren P1.

The McLaren P1 is a piece of art, a one million euro piece of art. Along with the latest Ferrari LaFerrari, the P1 is the ultimate car when it comes to performance, technology and everything possible in making one car, achieve it's full potential. It is a technical showcase of McLaren to show what the company is capable of. The midship mounted 3.8 litre engine V8 develops 727 horsepower, but with the new KERS electric motor, the hybrid engine can produce an extra 176 horsepower when needed. This gives the P1 a total output of 903 horsepower. The acceleration of the P1 is very impressive due to this system of power. 0-100 kph takes just 2.7 seconds, 0-200 kph takes under 7 seconds, and 0-300 kph is achieved in just 17 seconds. In theory, the P1 can achieve a top speed of 385 kph, faster than it's predecessor, the McLaren F1. However, McLaren have capped the top speed of the P1, to a more modest 350 kph, which is still very impressive.
