In 2018 Maserati will come up with a successor of the GranTurismo. With the introduction of the Alfieri the new GranTurismo will get a different character than the current model. The car will be more sporty and this is a pretty important character in the development of the successor.
Maserati keeps on developing new models. The Ghibli is a completley new model and the Quattroporte is also repositioned in the market. Next year the first Levante will leave the factory as a luxurious SUV and at that moment it's time for more sporty models. In 2016, the Alfieri will be introduced as a production model and after that it's time for the GranTurismo. During an interview with CARmagazine, Chief Technology Officer, Harald Wester, states that the new GranTurismo will only be availble as a Coupé. The new GranTurismo will be a real driver's car and will be more sporty. The Alfieri will also be available as a Convertible and this means that a GranCabrio model will be unnecessary.
The car will be powered by a Ferrari V8 and the model will probably also be availble with a smaller V6 engine. Maserati wants to sell up to 75.000 copies a year which means that they need to have a big range of models. The power of the GranTurismo will be over 500 hp. The future of Maserati has started and between now and 2018 we can expect a lot of new models.
