Old but still exclusive: Brabus SLR McLaren

Arabs who travel to Europe every summer often bring their newest supercars with them. That’s because catching attention starts with the Pagani Huayra or Aventador LP900-4 Molto Veloce By DMC . Despite this, ‘oldies’ like the Brabus-tuned Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren surely can’t be forgotten.

The collaberation between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren turned out to be not as successful as the manufacterers hoped, that’s something we all can agree on. In this still nice cross-pollination was too much Mercedes-Benz and too little McLaren. Happely though, McLaren shows that they can build a proper supercar. Brabus is the tuner of this Mercedes-Benz, but also Dartz has layed their hands on this copy. There’s one thing we ask ourselves: is this colour done by paintjob or by wrap? It could be that this is one of Mercedes-Benz’s unique bespoke colours chosen for the car, it surely gives the car something classical. But what did Brabus add to the car?

For the SLR McLaren, Brabus made a complete tuning program which has prices up to €70.000. Some of the parts of this program are visible, like the carbon fiber spoiler and carbon fiber diffuser. Then, there are beautiful Monoblock VI Platinum alloys underneath the car. For this, Brabus asks more than €25.000 euros. The performance tuning includes new camshafts, a modified engine management and a new ignition system. With that, the power rises up to 650 bhp instead of the standard 626 bhps. Finally, Brabus gives the opportunity of completely remaking the interior with softer and more exclusive leater. For that, €19.500 extra euros will be notated on the bill!
