An extremely rare sighting: the Mitsuoka Himiko

Anyone thinking this is a new Morgan is actually mistaken. Because this is the Japanese stepbrother of a Morgan named Mitsuoka Himiko. But all in all, one can't complain too much about this model, as there are Mitsuoka models that can actually make you feel sick...

Mitsuoka is particularly known in the Asian market for its luxury sedans, sports coupes, and sport roadsters. In fact, a supercar-like car called Orochi was once built. The reputation as the ugliest sports car also follows him. But let's better look at this Mitsuoka Himiko, which doesn't look too bad at all. It actually strongly reminds us of a Morgan or a Wiesmann. Even better, it's currently trailing a Wiesmann. Then you can visually compare them quite well.

The Mitsuoka Himiko is known for its retro design inspired by classic British roadsters, especially the Morgan Roadster. Mitsuoka Motors is a Japanese automaker specializing in retro designs. The Himiko is one of their distinctive models. The base vehicle for the Himiko is the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Mitsuoka takes the MX-5 and modifies it with a unique body design. The design includes round headlights, a chrome grille, and an overall nostalgic design language. The technical specifications of the Mitsuoka Himiko largely match those of the Mazda MX-5 on which it is based. This includes various engine options, depending on the model year and version. The interior of the Himiko is often designed with high-quality materials and retro elements. The dashboard and interior are adapted to the nostalgic design. Mitsuoka Motors often produces its vehicles in limited quantities. Only 10 units of the Himiko were built. The availability of the Mitsuoka Himiko may vary by region. These vehicles may be more readily available in Japan and selected Asian markets. But the fact that one of these 10 units is driving around in Monaco doesn't surprise us at all.
